Sunrise Lesson 4 Assignment 1: Sight Sound Smell Taste Touch

Assignment 1: 15-20 sentences using sensory details

I chose to use all five senses in the same situation: Fishing.

Sight
1) The deep blue water reflected the metallic red Triton bass boat like a mirror.
2) The bass hit the chartreuse spinner bait with a fury, splashing water a foot into the air.
3) A bald eagle soared in the blue bird sky.
4) A pale orange carp sunned itself near a rock pile in the shallow, clear water.
5) A root beer colored football-head jig with a pumpkin green trailer was the perfect bait for the conditions.
6) The branches of the Weeping Willow played on the surface of the water in the breeze.
7) A fallen tree, the victim of a lightning strike, stretched out several feet into the shallow water.

Smell
1) The anise scent of the swim baits choked me as I opened the lure storage box
2) The garlic smell of the ChomperŪ Twin-Tail made me think someone was cooking Italian food.
3) My hands smelled of the bass I had handled that day.
4) The smell of the Coffee TubesŪ reminded me of the diner we visited before takeoff that morning.
5) The shad scent I sprayed on the creature bait stunk of dead fish, but the bass seemed to like it.

Sound
1) I heard the splash behind me and knew the bass were feeding.
2) A wolf howled somewhere, sounding lost and lonely.
3) A boy asked if we were catching anything as we trolled past his dock.
4) The reel whizzed as the line peeled off.
5) The motor roared as the boat went up on plane.
6) “It’s a PIG!” I yelled, setting the hook on a big bass.

Taste
1) Even my water bottled tasted of fish by the end of the day.
2) I tasted the salt from the trailer as I licked the monofilament line to secure my knot.
3) A sour-hot-tasting bug flew into my mouth as we motored across the lake.
4) I could taste the gas of the flooded motor in my mouth before we took off.
5) The grapes I brought for a snack were juicy and tasted sweet and refreshing.

Touch
1) The hook felt sharp as I dragged it across my thumbnail.
2) I unhooked the slimy Northern Pike and dropped it back into the water.
3) I felt a tug on the line as a big bass slurped my bait and then dropped it.
4) I felt the jig bouncing off the rocks on the bottom of the lake.
5) The bass felt smooth to the touch when stroked one way and rougher than sandpaper as I stroked it against the gill grain.
6) My thumb was rough from the mouths of the bass I caught that day.
7) I felt the frog snag on a lilly pad before feeling the bass explode on the lure.
