The Terzanelle is a great way to drive a theme home. The refrains allow you to repeat those really powerful lines. There is no meter or syllable count dedicated to this form, but each line should be of similar length or metrical count. The rhyme pattern for this form is:
ABA, BCB, CDC, DED, EFE For the ending stanza, you can choose either: f, A, F, A or f, F, A, A It’s a beautiful day to be in Jamaica IT’S A BEAUTIFUL DAY TO BE IN JAMAICA Since the temp has reached zero and I can’t get warm The isle of Jamaica’s where I’d rather be And the weatherman hints at another bad storm Where the sand is as warm as the shimmering sea And luscious green palm fronds adorn the white beach The isle of Jamaica’s where I’d rather be The whites and the grays of the north are so bland I’d rather be under the Jamaican blue sky And luscious green palm fronds adorn the white sand In a painted white lounge chair I’d love to lie Under the fluffy white clouds and warm sun I’d rather be under the Jamaican blue sky Here in the winter my mood is just glum This tropical paradise is just a dream Under the fluffy white clouds and warm sun Maybe someday I can take in this scene In the middle of winter to go some place warm This tropical paradise is just a dream And the weatherman hints at another bad storm
