The weight of one’s positive thinking,
When there’s nary a lasting hope, Can leave one without an inkling Of self-respect and the ability to cope. Those issues residing in one’s past And the truths existing in the present Mean that when we now finish last, Our spirit roils amid a bottomless descent… So how does one recover The focus and belief So easily had by another, To gain peace and relief? One simply follows through With a well-constructed plan, And the self-respect one is due, Showing kindness where they can. For how can one aim And struggle to the top, When others get the blame, But we don’t, when we stop? For if you like yourself enough To do your very best, Self-respect can make you tough, And kindness will take care of the rest. Your heartache represents A challenging, new test – The belief of all the ladies and gents Is the hope of achievement, our very best! Be filled with respect – An infinite challenge can be rough – The self-love you will detect, And the lasting stubbornness to be tough…
