1. Dead grass, stripped trees, their limbs gray in the bright, winter sun, gave no evidence of life.

2. That smell of skunk, at first just a hint, assualted my senses, but when I tired to retreat, it enveloped me as waves of nausea rose in my throat.

3. I felt the wasp, first as the brush of wings, then the touch of feet, and finally, the sting exploding in fiery pain.

4. Pain in my stomach drew my body into hunched ball, and I could neither stand nor walk.

5. The key in the lock made sharp clicks, and the brick walls of the hallway reflected the harsh sounds as the equally harsh prison environment imploded on me.

6. Red sky behind black clouds hearlding the setting sun reflected my emotions as, filled with anger, I approached my husband's lover.

7. Weeping Willow foilage concealed me in cascadomg waves of gentle green.

8. The ladies of the Garden Club enjoyed the luncheon with quiet conversation and gentle laughter until one by one in quick succession they tasted the Jalapeno Dressing, whereupon a few grabbed water glasses, one ran for the bathroom and two screamed.

9. The tomato soup warmed me with gentle hints of basil and pepper.

10. Members of the congregation in quiet obedience stood, bowed, sat, or greeted others at the behest of the preacher until a sudden deafening roar brought the service to a startled conclusion.

11. I followed the aluring aroma of popcorn until suddenly it turned to acrid, bitter taste in my mouth--who burned the popcorn?

17. Smoothe and gentle, the satin slid down my body until I could see the white dress in the long mirror.

18. I lay down on the pillow waiting for the whirling sensation of inner ear disturbance that threatened to spin me off to Kansas in a roaring hurricane.

19. I stared at the blank spot on the wall where there was nothing, but the absence was replaced by a large gray cloud created by the blockage in my optic nerve.

20. She yearned for silence, but, without some muted noise, the tinnitis was deafening.
