Gates of Paradise
Irish Traditional Style - very cheeky lyric on life and relationships.

If you wandered a while
Through the Garden of Eden
In search of the gates to paradise
What if when you found them
They were locked and barred
Would you be goin’ to hell?
And be sufferin’ there for a time.

Ohhhh… Hell’s an awfully hot place
Where you’ll be burnt by the flames
And singed at the edges
It’s as dry as a bone there,
And there’re no pints of Guinness

If you moseyed around
And strayed from the path
Would you then, be getting lost on the way?
Did you find temptation?
Did it take much persuading?
Paradise if you can find it
Is a much better place to lay

Ohhhh… Hell’s an awfully hot place
Where you’ll be burnt by the flames
And singed at the edges
It’s as dry as a bone there,
And there’re no pints of Guinness

It’s hard to deny
Life’s little enticements
They come in all shapes and sizes
If you bite at Eve’s apple
Don’t expect anything much
Because just like Adam, you’ll get it
Stuck in a very tight spot

Ohhhh… Hell’s an awfully hot place
Where you’ll be burnt by the flames
And singed at the edges
It’s as dry as a bone there,
And there’re no pints of Guinness

So take a walk,
Down the old pathway
When you’re outside the gates
If you’ve been acting saintly
Steered a course, straight and true,
While navigatin' life’s troubled waters
Knock again; you just might, if you’re lucky, get in
