I woke up not knowing where I was and not caring much either. I climbed out of the bed of a white Ford truck leaving my body achy and tender from the bumpy ride. I rubbed my eyes and looked around. The dirt road I stood upon seemed to lead to nowhere. My two friends brought me there out of pity because of my recent break up. They were a couple newly in love.
"We can't drive up this ridge. We'll have to walk the rest of the way.", Tom said. At that, I longed to be at home loosely wrapped in my bedsheets, unknotting every muscle. I followed the love-gushing Siamese twins up the road as we were gradually blanketed in darkness. Finally, just as my shoes started to rebel against the amount of rocks contained within them, we arrived at our campsite. I laid my tender body down on the hard surface of the dirt. I could still feel the afternoon's warmth cling to it. I closed my eyes to speed time along. The night was unforgiving; filled with the sounds of two animals, (human in origin), restlessly even wildly making love piercing the chorus of nature. I had a cup of coffee with my self-pity and jealousy the next morning. I knew I had to leave the area. I walked endlessly in effort to distract my feelings of loneliness but instead, my feelings confirmed the old fashion idea that one needs a mate to find true happiness and to experiences all of life's ecstasies. I knew I was in a place called Yosemite. But that's all I knew. Suddenly, I found myself at the edge of a meadow. I stood quietly among the tall grass and flowers. Daisies of yellow and white were dancing on tops of long slender green stems. All in unison, they swayed gently to the right. "Come. Let us lift your spirit.", they seemed to sing. Butterflies provided flickers of orange, black and light blue. I began to feel a profound sense of peace and physical lightness. My senses became acute. I looked across this majestic bounty and felt welcome. I continued upon my journey. Time became meaningless. I walked through a shallow pond. I felt the cold cling to my boned and made no judgment. Instead, I embraced each and every sensation as different characters of God touching my body and spirit. I was in a sharp and clear state of relaxation. I arrived at the base of what was called Vernon Falls. There were no more decisions made that day. I was being guided. My mind, body and spirit were in harmony with the music that is nature. I knew then that I was going to climb to the top of this mighty rock. I started to hike up the trail. Although challenging in some spots, my leg were as confident as if they had hiked it daily. I became increasingly aware of the aspect of music inspired by this grand place. The base tones permeated from the thundering waterfall drummed in sync with my pounding heart while it's mist refreshed my hot sweating body. Finally, I had reached the top! I stood and listened as the falls applauded me! I was victorious! I sat down on a warm bleached rock that seemed to be there waiting for me. I closed my eyes and heard the choir of water and birds. The crescendo of sensations gave way to a church-like silence. At this point, I descended into a visualization of myself internally dancing slowly...effortlessly to a breath-taking aria of a single Stratavarious. ....To think....I was envious of mere mortal lovemaking.
