SIGNS OF SPRING

Singing in the still snowy tree
I sit – the trite sign of spring,
Glad that warmer weather is on its way.
Nestled amid the branches I sit.
Spring breezes have coaxed the buds
On each waiting bough – they wait in anticipation.
Frost still lingers in the air
Speaking caution.
Pink and purple hyacinths
Reach through the snow
Imagining the warm breezes are already blowing.
Near is the season of spring -
Glad I have not arrived too early.
