The fierce toughness of an animal,
The kindness in caring for its young, And the respect it earns for survival In the sunny, tranquil, yet deadly world of day, And the dark, sleepy, and godless night, Speak volumes for an unlucky, lackluster, And piteously wishful person On the verge of collapse and self-inflicted agony. For once we are taught that Toughness equates to peace and prosperity, And that kindness equals success, Respect comes most easily For the men and women being accused Of either meanness or holiness; Passion or restraint; Laziness or dedication – And the joyous fulfillment of love Will come to pass For those who persevere.
