Coming Home to the Ones You Love
A poem about coming home, and the loving romance becoming home, too.

My mom, the grateful and talented cook,
And my once-ill, but rejuvenated dad,
Are at our semi-spacious home
Preparing to enjoy a typical family meal
With their loving, oldest son.
They discuss plans to head out of town shortly
To their second home,
As well as a get-together this coming weekend
With other family members
To celebrate the Chinese New Year
Which we will all be attending.
I enjoy these warm, ingratiating, and somewhat
Infrequent get-togethers,
And plan my coming days
Taking into account my parents’ schedule.
On these days when my parents are away,
I normally spend time with my girlfriend,
Whom I am getting to know quite intimately,
Having dated her for a year and a half.
I have developed a close and happy connection
To her stylish, wholesome, and sexy appeal.
At the moment, I am enjoying a completely fulfilling life
Of familial love as well as romance,
Coming home to parents I love and cherish deeply,
And hopefully someday,
Sharing a home
With my lovely and talented partner
With whom dedication and kindness
Offer huge and promising success,
Now and in the near
And distant future.
In truth, love is the brightest, most distant star,
And hopefully is not
Millions of light years away
From the wondrous souls
Who seek its naturally responsive chords…
