Hoping for Heart Break
Every February feels the same. My Valentine heart is pure misery. Not from regretful memories, Or lingering pain and past love. But forever knowing I’ll be alone. Some often say you’re not trying. Some say you just need more lust; (A warm pink feeling to forget about love) These lies in their empty-soul eyes. I’m not numb from constant longing. I’m not Scrooge old and crooked. It’s just, every couple young and old Holding and kissing and loving; My breath gets caught and My heart cracks sharp; Leaking out my warmth some more Leaving my veins a little colder Each time I see their loved faces. I wish maybe someday me. Now I fear to ask but must And not let it be set aside much longer Can you mend this broken heart, One that has not felt love?
