My Closing Door
You have to be able to count on someone no matter the circumstances confronting you.

If I saw a star in the black of the sky,
if I asked you to go,
would you ask me why,
would it be you that would be afraid to fly?

If I needed you to be there for me,
would you be my eyes so I could see,
could I depend on you,
when life has me down?

and the noise that you hear,
flooding into your ear,
is the sound,
of my closing door

If there's an accident driving my car,
no matter how near, no matter how far,
would you be there if I were to die,
shed a tear and ask why?

If it left me in a wheel chair,
unable to speak,
unable to walk,
or to touch your hair?

Would you be my tongue so I could talk,
would you be my legs so I could walk,
would you be my sense of touch,
so I could feel you there?

and the noise that you hear,
flooding into your ear,
is the sound,
of my closing door

If I saw a star in the black of the sky,
if I asked you to go,
would you ask me why,
would it be you that would be afraid to fly?

and the noise that you hear,
flooding into your ear,
is the sound,
of my closing door
