TO SHAWN ANTHONY, MY LEGACY
You, my firstborn son Where did you go? Where did you run? I thought we would always know How we mutually shared an opened door You are always here by phone We can come to you flying home What warm welcome we receive An exceptional life you lead Embracing exactly what we believe You have carefully inculcated prodigy To follow the manners of civility Not seeking the world for all gain Putting their trust in lofty things You have done us proud You, my son, my firstborn Love for Holy One has shown Nothing on earth can quite that match The measure of faith and hope you catch I am satisfied I do know where you have gone To pursue the life to which you sworn Come swiftly to me in my Senectitude Avoid “Mom will live forever” attitude Let’s make memory I know you must care for family and wife Remember me as part of your life So keep my love with you so precious This message is not factitious I am your Mother Earthene Fleming Thursday, August 11, 2005 Author's Comments: "These poems are my legacy and gift to our children. I can give nothing better."
