I didn’t give you life I assisted as the wife I kept you safe and secure Until you became you You Arrived What was I doing all that time? I didn’t compose an essay or rhyme Or a song of your attributes so clear Send you the White Lilies so dear You are My Son I was watching you become a man Who had outgrown my limited span I was marveling at how you had grown I loved you with love long known I Am Your Mother My Mission Statement was well stated To build character on a Foundation slated To offer to this vast, and needy world One human who would give a pearl You Accomplished I, however, knew that there would always be A bond unbreakable between you and me Even when you took Joy as your wife And added the five to your life They Became Mine Tracey Jon, you, the gentle and the bold Uncompromised, untouched, unsold No bidder of Expediency Can tempt your tried Constancy You Are the One Earthene Fleming Thursday, August 11, 2005 Author's Comments: "My gift to each of my children is this legacy.
