Deliberate Diversions Along the Way
…dreams disguised and denied… Fetch me from the dream, I must awaken and step into the shadow laden night, rejoin the journey that I’d forsaken for an amble in artificial light. A neon framework of idol worship; I assembled an altar to my pride. There were no bent knees nor humble barter. All was fabrication – I lived a lie. The flashing lights disguised the loneliness, loud feigned laughter drowned out the inner cry. Though my soul was overrun with sadness, the need for love was patently denied. But this evening, in my dreamland travel I saw the walls I’d built come tumbling down I stood all alone, my soul unraveled My weakened knees met the cold, barren ground. In every part of me, silence pervaded, though my will was broken, it made no sound. I knew the very path that I’d evaded was one I desperately needed now. Fetch me from this dream, I must awaken and step into the shadow laden night, rejoin the journey that I’d forsaken in pursuit of love and radiant light. Copyright © February 9, 2009 by Karen M. Crump
