When two is one, I do declare, It is I you remember with a smile; A pair of me will cut as one, And snip, and clip and dice and pierce.
Hold me by my love handles and open me up, Let me ride astride the element you want to snip, Help me to align myself and swish me across a line, And collect the pieces you helped create.
And when your work with me is done, Put me down into my box with care, Wiping my blades with a gentle tenderness That will keep my sharpness anew.
I will serve you with pleasure and never die If you occasionally grind me on a turning stone; And if my edges get blunt, or my alignment slips, I can still be useful to pierce or make a hole through.
Sharpness, keenness and brevity have got me To where I am in the pantheon of tools, I have "created" not just pieces of paper or fabric, But also master-tailors, stylists and craftsmen of all hues.
A humble tool for your use am I, Tailored to suit your cutting needs, But, a lesson in dexterity and flexibility will I impart To you, my buyer, user and carer.
