                                          Ghazal 222


Persian:  Aey noor e chashm e mun sukhanay hast goosh kun
              Ta saagharat pur ast banooshaan o noosh kun
Urdu:      Aey noor e chashm baat yeh maeri bagoash ker
              Hay jaam jab talak tera pur, naushanoash ker

English:=== O drink and dance, and when you dine
                  With friends and lovers do share your wine
                                                -

Persian:  Peeraan sukhan ba tajraba guftand, guftamat
              Haan aey pisar keh peer shawi pand goosh kun
Urdu:      Daanish milay na peer ko bay pand o tajraba
              Chahay jo peer hona, naseehat ba goash ker

English:=== You're young and strong, but when they advise
                  You should listen to the old because they're wise
                                                -

Persian:  Bar hooshmand silsila nanhaada ast ishq
              Khahi keh zulf e yaar kashi tark e hoosh kun
Urdu:      Mehroom haen ba silsila e ishq aaqilaan
              Chahay agar too zulfkashi, tark e housh ker

English:=== And love is above and beyond our reason
                  So if you're in love, your reason you shun
                                                -

Persian:  Tasbeeh o khirqa lazzat e masti nabakhshadat
              Himmat dar een amal talab az maifaroosh kun
Urdu:      Tasbeeh o dilq maen naheen masti o baikhudi
              Ja maikaday maen, pairawi e maifaroush ker

English:=== With the rosary and gown you cannot go far
                  To become a mystic you should go to the bar
                                                -

Persian:  Baa doostaan muzaaiqa dar umr o maal neest
              Sad jaan fida e yaar e naseehatniyoosh kun
Urdu:      Baa doastaan mazaaiqa kya umr o maal maen
              Sad jaan fida e yaar e naseehatniyoush ker

English:=== The people in the pub you should try to befriend
                  Because on them you can really depend
                                                -

Persian:  Dar rah e ishq waswasa e ahraman basaist
              Hushdaar o goosh e dil ba payaam e saroosh kun
Urdu:      Hay rah e ishq waswasa e ahraman say pur
              Zinhaar goash e dil ba payaam e saroush ker

English:=== When Satan comes to you to prod
                  You should try to seek the help of God
                                                -

Persian:  Barg o nawa tabeh shud o saaz e tarab namaand
              Aey chang naala barkash o aey duff kharoosh kun
Urdu:      Barg o nawa ujjarh gaay, saaz e tarab gaya
              Aey chang shour ker koie, aey duff kharoush ker

English:=== Otherwise you'll become a sad buffoon
                  With your life as a long and sorrowful tune
                                              -

Persian:  Saaqi keh jaamat az mai e saafi tahi mabaad
              Chashm e inaayatay ba mun e durdnoosh kun
Urdu:      Labraiz mai say jaam rahay taera saaqia
              Kuchh toe ilaaj e tishnagi e durdnoash ker

English:=== O maid of the bar, you're so very divine
                  Be kind to me and give me some wine
                                                -

Persian:  Sarmast dar qaba e zarafshaan chun bagzari
              Yak boosa nazr e HAFIZ e pashmeenapoosh kun
Urdu:      Sarmast ja raha hay jo zarreen qaba maen toe
              Ik boasa nazr e HAFIZ e pashmeenapoash ker

English:=== And give your HAFIZ also a kiss
                  His humble plea please don't dismiss
