“What do you think of today's headline, 'Alien Ship Found'?” a student asked.

The professor replied.  “It’s a hoax.”

“Why do you say that?”  another student asked.

“When there was another ship found in New Mexico years ago the government hushed it up.  They ordered the witnesses to say no more.  So why would the government make this announcement now?”

“Maybe before it was a hoax.”

“Then why did they threaten the witnesses?”

There was no answer to that.  The professor went on.  All these years there has been a conspiracy to make anyone who saw anything look like a crackpot. If there are aliens, the government doesn’t want us to believe in them.”

“So what about this ship that was found?”

“Who has seen it?  How do we know there was a ship found?”

"No answer? The government lies to us. They think it’s for our own good. they do it to manipulate our attention away from where they don’t want it.  They treat us like children.  They don’t think we can handle the truth.”

The classroom was silent and then another student spoke.  “So do you believe there are extra terrestrials or don’t you?”

“It would be arrogant to say the least to believe we are the only sentient beings in the universe.”

The bell rang.  The professor dismissed the class. “I suggest you pay attention to what matters and stop letting your imaginations run away with you.”

The professor sat back and relaxed.  In the empty room he could take a break from the illusion he maintained in public.  As his true appearance became visible he thought how tired he was of living with humans and how glad he was that the others were arriving at last.
