Unforgotten
My history, and it's distortion.

My history distorted to the outside world,
A war fought over taxes condemned to hatred.
It’s sad,
And it’s solemn,
And it’s full of pride.

Confederate heros, pale copper green,
“Damn the torpedos” etched in stone,
It’s sad,
And it’s solemn,
And it’s full of pride.

How do you forget when you are chastised?
Thrown in your face, you carry on stubbornly.
It’s sad,
And it’s solemn,
And it’s full of pride.

And we will remember the true cause.
When no one else wants to.
Because the story is sad.
And it’s solemn,
And it fills us with pride.
