Impassionate Eyes…

We ask for God’s blessings upon our sweet land;
American recitude forged by His hand.
We all seek His Justice - we pray for His Love.
We all want what’s offered by God from above.
But we vacillate
because of the hate
ingrained in our psyches just lying in wait.

Regrettably we have our racial disputes
that cast a foul light upon everyone’s roots.
Igniting in fury our historic past -
Thus, bound by our loathings that time has amassed.
And with these old terms
we stand ever firm
in ignorant silence - where everyone squirms.

“A nation of cowards debating a cause!”
So say many people who beg we take pause
with radical change in our hearts and our minds.
We must make a move to remove racial blinds.
We’re so over-wrought
by what we’ve been taught.
This battle spans centuries!  Hate strikes for naught.

We talk about race, (but then truly we don’t).
We talk around race for in truth we just won’t
dig into the reasons - entrenched long ago;
instead we have reared them - allowed them to grow.
Impassionate eyes
can’t see past the cries
of those they’ve long chastised – the ones they despise.

And so we return to the place we began;
where hate reigns supreme in the heart of God’s Clan.
Good people are needed to help end the fear
that keeps anger going!  Our time is now here.
We need to take heed!
We've got to proceed!
As ‘haters’ continue to sow 'hateful' seeds.
