The Enemy Within
The racial divide The color-creed pride Poisonous seed Threatens to erase The human race From earth’s face. Civilization has failed to forge The gaping, gnawing gorge Of thousands of complexes That has caused mass murders With vicious, venomous weapons Wreaking terror on innocent victims. Are we on to let class-color-creed differences Further erode the cultural health of future generations? Can’t we cross the barriers of ineffective “silence”? And go beyond wasteful, cowardly “compassion”? Must we wait till the deluge of hate, the futile vengeance Destroy our own home and the hard-earned harmony? Time we shed the pretence Give up partiality and prejudice. Time we gave up indifference And fight the tenacious odds Of racism, religious extremism And tribal individualism. Let us resolve to conquer Inequalities and injustice Let’s be like Mother Nature That favors all Loves all.
