Poet’s Porch
I sit below a lofty porch, affording shade, a buffered canopy that mellows harsh sunlight. A veranda along my home offers a sight of neighborhood, and honest family life portrayed; a place to rest and swing on bench, as tales are played. The women gather, talk unfettered false, while slight Alice, she digs in dirt, a gardener's delight; her grubby children argue, selling lemonade. In course of day, the dads they visit now and then, compare their tools with barking laughs of handymen. A wife hails husband home, the guy set breaks apart. I watch while swinging quietly in shaded Zen and noting narratives to power poet’s pen on covered porch, off stage to real-time folksy art. ************************************************************************* -- French sonnet form in Alexandrine verse (iambic 12 syllable) abba abba cc dccd Kindly won Honorable Mention in Khalis's contest
