Sunset
a sunset for an old couple.

The couple walk slowly through the
leafless trees.

Their path is dirt, their boundaries nonexistant;
they continue to stroll.

They look up, past the ruins of their old church,
At the Sunset.

Explosions of orange, red, and yellow;
it is an inferno.

A small semi-circle hangs onto the horizon,
a tiny ball of fire.

It gives the couple one last glare,
starting its final descent.

It suddenly winks out of existence, a flare
of green flashes.

Night falls; The couple look to each other;
they smile.

They continue walking, turning
back to home.
