Couldn't Leave
about a woman who couldn't leave her relationship

He loved her deeply,
with every fiber of his being
but that wasn't enough to stop him
anger defeated feelings of endearment.

Love became a weapon
combined with physical strength
forced her to her knees
left weak from the pain.

When she couldn't run away
and staying equaled abuse
it was difficult to decide
when the options were so few.

She chose to stay
hoping things would change
but they never did
abuse always continued.

Repeated so often
with no reason, no excuse
till the day came
that ended it all.

Run she would not
leaving only one escape
at the hands of her husband
she died without love.
