To a Snowflake
fiction poem about the loss of an infant

You came to me
so innocent and sweet.
A gift to bring light in my life.
Even though it was only brief
in my heart you will always be.
Like a snowflake dropped from heaven;
the perfect crystal glimmering
designed as if the only one.
It is there for a second
then it melts away.
Like you were, gone, but not lost.
My child, my snowflake forever you will be.
