Abuse
was not
what she deserved;
something she asked for;
a plea for parental attention;
something she had coming;
just her imagination;
Children deserve
love.

He
fooled us;
acted his part;
had a steady job;
was respected by his peers;
had experience with kids;
earned their trust;
raped her
often.

She
tried to
tell her mother.
Mom wouldn't believe her;
couldn't see the monster inside
the man she invited
into her house.
The abuse
continued.

Slowly,
time passed.
She tried again.
She showed her dad
the bruises in secret places,
Daddy believed his little
girl over his
best friend.
