These Stone Walls
This is a poem I wrote when I was really missing Scotland. Sort of sad, in an odd way.

These Stone Walls

These stone walls
held up for centuries by an unseen force
each stone ruined by years of rainy nights
Footsteps echo.
The lost noise of clattering pots and pans
rings for none to hear.
The shouts of the cook and relayed orders of the maid
rebound across the corridor
Forgotten.
Ghosts of long-lost courtiers and nobles
twirl with pearl-adorned partners
in a dream of rubies
and twinkling chandeliers.
The violin music floats over the crowd;
wealthy barons
look on in pleasure.
Jewelry and sparkling eyes
catch the light.
These stone walls have never been forgotten.
