WALLS AROUND US
We build walls around us that Make us impervious To the feelings of others, Which we simply ignore. Those walls are, usually, Knowledge and arrogance. We think we’re intelligent, But wisdom we do lack. As we look down at others Through our tinted glasses, We get impatient towards Those we can’t understand. Foremost among the latter, Those from opposite sex, Are the ones whom we like but Do tend to hate sometimes. Then, the young and the old, from Different generations, Offer a mighty challenge To fathom out their thoughts. Let us all remember this: What we don’t understand May yet have truth and logic That has eluded us. • Written as per 7-6-7-6 syllabic scheme. M C Gupta 16 March 2009
