How Green It Is Written by Scott Wilcox

Shelly is an average girl who enjoys spending time with her friends. Her excitement is evident concerning the pool party Friday.
Friday arrives and she is rushing around getting ready, trying to be sure she remembers everything. Shelly is sitting at her vanity, brushing her gorgeous blond hair. This is one thing she is extremely proud of; her notoriety is for luxurious golden locks.
Shelly is dressed in her designer outfit and carries her bathing suit and towel in her beach bag. Going over a check list, she is certain she remembers everything.
Arriving, she walks around greeting her friends, she starts getting pinches reminding her it is St. Patrick’s day. Chastising herself, she thought, “I knew you would forget something, you always wear green on St. Patrick’s Day. Now I am going to feel like a fool through the entire party.”
Realizing she’d be less conspicuous in the pool, she jumped in immediately after changing. Soon she is relaxing and chatting, her lack of green forgotten until she went to leave the pool and a friend, Ashley, says, “See I knew you wouldn’t forget to wear green.”
Shelly, confused, answers, “What are you talking about?”
Ashley points, laughing, “Your hair! It’s the prettiest green I have ever seen.”
Shelly jumps out of the pool and ran for the bathroom. Slamming the door behind her, she looks in the mirror and immediately began to cry. Her beautiful blonde hair turned very bold green by the pool water and stuck out like a sore thumb.
She is absolutely in shambles as she is noted for her lovely blond hair. Finally seeing the humor she starts to laugh as she says, “Well at least I am wearing green.”
