if I had known, wandering,
wondering how to surrender to your grace
my wayward heart
braving the icy tempest of doubt
would chase that scintilla of magic
I’d ask you to dance, igniting my timid feet
resonating with the multitude of
our lively footsteps echoing in the hall
ways where I would recite your love poems…
now, with still dancing feet, I take my leave,
while morning wakens, pure white light
catching the springtime promise of love
is engraved with hope, your name,
my sweetheart, the words I call out
when loneliness grapples the cold doubts
         during the dark hours before
your graceful silhouette calms
my angst, then I would smile, basking in
my ardor, and finally I would engulf you in
         the high tides of happiness
the warm rosy embrace of surrender
         your willing prisoner of love
