"The farm house was hit by lightening last night."

“Oh no. How did you find out?”

“Mom called this morning, while you were at work.”

“Was their much damage? Anything catch fire? Was anyone hurt?”

"It was real bad. But no one was hurt, and nothing caught fire. The strike melted some of the eaves. It hit the electrical wires and scorched the walls inside the house. The CBS was knocked out."

"That does sound bad. Was the TV destroyed?"

"Mom didn't say. I guess it’s OK."

“But they lost the CBS? What about the NBC or ABC? They weren’t affected?”

“She just said the CBS was knocked out. She didn’t say anything about the other networks.”

“It doesn’t make sense to me how one network could be knocked out and the others are OK.”

“I’m just telling you what she told me. I don’t know any more than that. I know mom will be pissed if she misses her CBS shows.”

“I just talked to your mom. I had to get to the bottom of this lightening strike on the TV. What your mom told me was that the CB was knocked out – that’s the Citizens Band, their two-way radios – not the CBS. They can get all the networks and their TV is fine.”

“Oh, that’s a relief. Mom’s favorite shows are on CBS, I’m glad she won’t miss them.”
