Suffocating Solitude: Insomnia
A darker than usual poem that poured out one night while feeling down. It captures a mood.

It comes for me at night
              In the dark
    When nobody's around
      And the world is silent.
      I'm alone, abandoned,
              Helpless.
        I see myself falling
          Once again
          Into this pit
Yet I'm powerless to stop it.
A shadow rolls in on the wind
    And settles in my heart;
  Taints my entire being and
    Colors everything black.
I feel the warmth of life
              Lift away as
  Cold loneliness moves in to
      Surround and stifle me.
        There is no realease.
So, no longer fighting the despair,
    Having nothing to cling to,
                I let go
                        And am lost
                                      Forever
