“Aw dad, do I have to?”

“Yes you do. We are all counting on you, and you promised.”

“Why can’t Sissy do it?”

“Sissy is only three years old. You are the big brother and you go to school, Sissy doesn’t”

“But Sissy doesn’t get mad like I do when he makes a mess.”

“You promised, remember. When he came to our house, you said you would take care of him, give him meals, go for walks and teach him.”

“I know, but it’s hard. He just isn’t very smart. I can go for walks with him, but I can’t teach him anything. You told me you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.”

“You have to try. He just can’t sit around all day. He needs some activity. You are the only one he really listens to.”

“Yeah, he listens, but he doesn’t do what I tell him to. He always makes a mess.”

“You are very good at cleaning up after him. Give it another try.”

“Should I take him for a walk first?”

“No, show him some tricks first and then you can go for a walk.”

“Maybe I should feed him first.”

“Stop stalling and get at it. If you do a good job, I’ll increase your allowance.”

“OK, I’ll try once more. But if he doesn’t do it right this time, I’m not trying again.”

“Thank you. I’m sure he will do what you say. Just get started. Be patient with him.”

“GRAAAAMPAAA – come down. It’s time for your computer lesson.”
