And so my path led once again to you,
My heart a-beating thunder in my chest, Crying out for that soft touch anew Upon the cage that trapped my love’s unrest. And so I came once more, my love the waif Of yours, which once with mine was intertwined; But when I see your eyes I see them strafe And crush my hope that your love I would find. My path had turned back from stolidity To go back to the groves of unimpeded Love for you, but now I see futility Is my path’s name, and I’m for you unneeded. As presence shows, two hearts that grow apart May not always return to single heart. *Shakespearean sonnet in iambic pentameter, abab cdcd efef gg rhyme scheme. *Written as a response to "A Path to You"
