Robin Hood

Chapter: One

The carriage rumbled along the rough dirt roads of the Thieves Forest, the horses being pushed as fast as they could go on such unsteady terrain. No one wanted to be caught here when it got dark. Even when it was day, you could still be attacked, as it seemed that the thieves that inhabited the forest of their namesake had become more openly aggressive.

A figure in a nearby tree watched the carriage with calculation, then knocked their bow and prepared to let loose the arrow.

The carriage driver automatically pulled the horses reigns in fear as an arrow stuck itself into the wooden base behind him. Suddenly the carriage was surrounded.

"What in the devil is going on!? Why have we-" the portly man that had been riding comfortably in the carriage froze as he saw about a dozen bows aimed his direction.

A young man stepped in front of the rest of the group. This fellow had brown shaggy hair, emerald eyes, and a lean figure clothed in mostly forest colors.

"Good afternoon sir." He feigned a respectful bow. "If you would kindly hand over your valuables, you may continue on your way."

"Says who?!" The man stepped forward but stopped as a sword was put to his throat.

"I guess its all settled then." The young man smiled. "Come along Will, we don't want to keep these lovely people waiting."

He and his companion, the thirteen year old Will Scarlet, proceeded to the carriage and opened the doors.

"Hello, kind lady." The young man said. "If you would just hand over your-" He stopped as she fainted. "-oh dear."

"If you hurt my wife-!" The rich man cried.

"I would never do such a thing." The young man said, stepping aside and letting Will into the carriage to take the woman's jewelry.

"What did you do!?" The man yelled, seeing the woman limp against the carriage wall.

"All we did was relieve her of her heavy chains, probably helping the case. Perhaps if she wasn't wearing such a tight corset she wouldn't have fainted." After that the whole group roared with laughter.

"I'm going to report you to the sheriff!" The rich man warned as he jabbed a finger in the young man's direction, his face beginning to become very red indeed.

Will walked by him and pulled the brooch off of his cape, and left him with his mouth open.

The young man motioned for his captive to return to the carriage.

The group lowered their weapons and made a way for it to leave.

"You do that, sir." The young man smiled. "And the names Robin Hood."
