Our Own Little Worlds
Quite a long song about caring for others in a community sense.

When I woke up this morning, I looked in the mirror
The lines on my face keep getting deeper
And the hair on my head seems to be thinner
But of one thing I’m sure, and that’s no one will notice
And so I’ll stop me worrying cos’
We’re all too busy, caught up with our problems
Working hard and struggling to earn a living
It's a sad, shameful thing that no one will notice
As a sure fact of life, and we can’t deny it, is
We’re blind to the suffering of others
Don’t we all live in our own little worlds?

Chorus
Would the world stop turning,
Would the rat race stop running
If we paused for a moment to think
For just five minutes
About someone other than me
Would the world stop turning
If we started caring
Would anyone even notice?
That just for a moment
Your own little world
Had suddenly become,
A much better place to be

What would happen if you were heard to say?
Hello Mrs Jones; shall I carry your shopping?
To the old lady who lives down the street
To her it’ll make all the difference.
To you its five minutes and it’ll cost you nothing

And for just those few minutes of thinking,
About someone other than yourself,
You’ll soon find your own little world
A much better place to live

There’s a kid down your street who’s not eaten dinner,
Go on would you, give’im a slice of bread
For just five minutes of caring in twenty four hours
Could make a big difference and it’s not very much

For just five minutes of thinking,
About someone other than yourself,
You’ll soon find your own little world
A much better place to live

We can’t all be Live Aid and help the suffering in Africa
But we can care for a few minutes a day
Caring doesn’t have to be done on a grand scale
(Spoken) Sometimes, just listening is enough

Chorus
Would the world stop turning
Would the rat race stop running
If we paused for a moment to think
For just five minutes
About someone other than me
Would the world stop turning
If we started caring
Would anyone even notice?
That just for a moment
Your own little world
Had suddenly become,
A much better place to be
