N0TICING NEWBIES NEWSLETTER

Noticing Newbies Newsletter is geared to help members get acquainted with Writing.com. There are many things to do and learn. Our goal is to help you make your time here more fun and manageable.

Each week we select and showcase new items (poetry, lyrics, short stories, essays, campfires, polls, etc.). Exposure for an item (your writing) helps to bring you more rates and reviews by fellow members and the general public...of course depending on how much exposure you want your item to have. Some writers like to keep their work private. When your work does receive exposure, it helps bring more member interaction, which will give you the opportunity to build new friendships. Remember, it is a two-way street...try to make an effort to reciprocate reviews.

"There's someone that you haven't already met, go introduce yourself to him or her. Walls and labels can't keep you from the people who are so similar to you in spirit. There's a friendly face behind every door if you pick the right moment to knock. Once you start your wave of creative outreach, it turns into a contagious force. People are waking up and smiling at each other, sharing their dreams without hesitation. This community is worth something."

EDITOR'S NOTE:

Hey New Members!

When people are visiting your portfolio, the first thing they come to is your bioblock. It is the heart of your port, the welcome pad; you don't want it to be blank or uninviting, how boring...so, spice it up! I love to read a member's bio...a quick read of something informational or witty about their self. When a member takes the time to set up their bio, it shows they care about their readers and take pride in their port.

Instructions Help Topic: Set up your BioBlock (by Writing.com)

Your BioBlock is the welcome mat you lay out for people who visit your portfolio. Welcome your readers with a brief introduction about yourself, your writing, or what makes you tick!

How do you set up your bio, please read on:

How Do I?:
Click "My Account".
Choose "Change Account Text & Special Items".
Read the details and rules regarding your BioBlock.
Fill in your information.
Click "Submit Changes".

If you'd like to check for mistakes and preview what your visitors will see, go back to "My Account" and click on "Your Public URL."
(This information is found at the top left side of the screen in "Getting Started: Table of Contents)

ASK & ANSWER:

Assessments are good...feedback is essential. Constructive feedback is important to learn from so we can improve what we do and how we do it. If we do not constantly evaluate ourselves, either through self-assessement, or through an external assessment, we will remain stuck in a status quo and develop a false sense of achievement. Whether you want to generally comment on the newsletter or offer constructive feedback, please do not hesitate.

See you April 29th!
