Loss Poem

I loved you

From the very start

I love you true

With all my heart

I loved you

Throughout my life

I trusted you

Became your wife

I followed you

Where you would lead

Believed in you

To you I cleaved

But when your wicked heart conspired

To lie to me and treat me wrong

Another’s love you did desire

Another one you gave your song

Remembered times we laughed and played

Remembered whispered promises made

Remembered all the words of care

Remembered how our lives we’d share

I tried to hold my faith in you

And tried to prove my love for you

But you grew cold and didn’t care

I tried not to see you so unfair

I hoped for you to finally see

Our path together was meant to be

But you were cruel and broke my heart

And I came to know that we must part

I know that it is what must be

But still my broken heart weeps for thee

I pray that you’ll find health and more

I prayed for us as I passed through the door

I hope that you will someday find

That you have treated so unkind

And find the happiness you seek

To find forgiveness when you were weak

For life goes on and with it pain

And never shall we love again

I wanted love but in the end

The best I hope is to end as friends
