Alive
A darker poem about my friend's death

- Alive -

The cold wind lashes at my face
The cool, wet rain soaks my body
The metal bench freezes my back
The air pinches my bluing fingers
The leaves stick to my bare legs
The dirt lightly covers my arms
The dying fire burns my feet
The noisy street hurts my ears
The air blisters my lips
The tears sear my eyes
The sadness singes my nose
The mind makes me sore
The people make me hurt
The words make me cry
The actions make me weak
The streets make me tired
The food makes me disgorge
The drink makes me gag
The friends make me think
and the thought makes me go
The go makes me think......

I am still alive today
and none of this you will feel
- ever -
