![]() The dawn pulls at my lids and chases off the night. I see you standing there framed in a cloud of light. I watch the shadows play. They hide what was revealed - the softness of your form which cannot be concealed. My voice is lost in wonder as I try to call your name but I cannot overcome your beauty ‘midst the flame. I reach to try and touch you. I can’t overcome resistance and so I watch admiring your beauty at a distance. You sense, somehow, my need as you slowly turn, aware. Penumbra hides your face except the smile which lingers there. The insistence of the alarm wakes me from my sleep. The sun calls me to rise, yet it’s the dream I want to keep. Slowly all the details begin to fade away but I will hold your image with me throughout the day. Notes A contest entry for "KARIS'S ROMANTIC POETRY CONTEST!" penumbra - a shadowy, indefinite, or marginal area; the partial or imperfect shadow outside the complete shadow. Thank you for taking the time to read my poetry. I would appreciate it if you'd take an few moments and leave a comment. Your reactions, criticisms, praise Ken
