The old village road, remembered in old age.

SHALL I THERE BE PERCHANCE AGAIN?—a nove otto

Shall I there be perchance again,
Where by the side of the fountain,
I walked up the old country road?

Shall those days of childhood return
When I thought beyond the far turn
There lay the sweet fairies’ abode?

Shall I ever be free from throes
Of old age and my mental woes
To go back to the ancient mode?

• Written as per aac, bbc, ddc rhyme scheme, 8 syllables per line. A nove otto means nine lines of eight syllables each. I have chosen to write it as 3 separate tercets.
• Written for the “Pond Poetry” Contest, "Pond Poetry, Round 16, hosted by ~♥~Krysha~♥~ .
