AS I SILENTLY MOAN

The sunlight slowly fades.
In mind a thought pervades:
This night I am alone.

I will remember her
Who, without a whisper,
Was in a moment gone.

I’ll see her in my dreams,
In a myriad themes,
As I silently moan.

All this to what avail?
Let this one fact prevail,
To be cold I was prone.

But now it is too late.
Nothing can compensate
Her for lack of love shown.
