The Little Purple Eater
This is a childhood memory about my grandmother.

The Little Purple People Eater

She called me the little “Purple People Eater”
I didn’t know what that meant either
She always had a smile for me
The table set with a glass of tea

Coloring books and crayons too
A pretty doll in a glass case to view
A white Chenille bedspread that looked brand new
There was always so much to do

Tall pine trees all around the yard
Life for her had been most often hard
She loved us all and couldn’t wait
For the special memories we would make

Her life on this earth was abruptly cut short
Life for my Mother was most difficult without her support
I was just a small child of three
But I will never forget how she influenced me

Linnie Benton Johns was her name
I am so glad that into her life I came
A fond memory in my heart always will be,
The little “Purple People Eater”, yes that is me!
