Confused by all the characters and names in my story "Royal Fatness"? Here's a breakdown of everything...
Fatlantis A fantastical land of fields, rolling hills and mountains full of farms, orchards and quaint little villages, towns and the occasional city. The people who live here are friendly, creative, approachable and hungry! Fatlantis has an incredibly high rate of obesity, topping 90%. The country's capital is Regis City, a bustling, cheerful town built around the River Skripp. Fatlantis is ruled over by High King Daniel and High Queen Mary. Daniel's family have ruled Fatlantis since the beginning of time. Regis City Regis City is the capital of Fatlantis. It's built around the River Skripp and has many of the features typical of a medieval city. At one end is a large hill, built on top and around this hill, is the royal palace. Regis City and the palace both have immensely high defensive walls, drawbridges, gatehouses and portcullises. While the palace is built of granite and marble, the buildings of the commonfolk are stone, brick or wood. Streets are unpaved and the horse and cart are still the main forms of transport. Fire provides the only means of lighting. In the middle of Regis City is the city square, and in the middle of that, is a grand fountain. Opposite the main entrance into the square is the City Hall, a combination courthouse, community center and seat of government. Few buildings are over four storeys high and while the main roads are generally clean and straight, there are hundreds of twisting, narrow alleyways between the houses and shops. The Fatlanteen Royal Family King Daniel's family has ruled Fatlantis for as long as anybody could remember. As Fatlantis is an absolute monarchy of the old school, the king and his family hold immense power and authority over their people. King Daniel, Queen Mary and their son are all fat, lazy and filthy rich, the richest family for miles. They are admired, loved, respected, and to a certain extent, feared, by their subjects. High King Daniel Son of the late King Damien, Daniel is in his mid thirties. He stands eight, maybe even nine or more feet, tall. He weighs over a ton - all of it loose, jiggling rolls of blubber. He has blond hair and blue eyes. His size makes him intimidating, but he is a kindly and friendly ruler, who always has time for peoples' problems. He prides himself on being approachable and friendly. Daniel is a glutton, the biggest glutton in the entire kingdom, seconded only by his son, and the king loves his food. He is happily married to his wife Mary, and spoils his son Chandler absolutely rotten. Despite his position, the king is a friend to everyone and has no reservations of mingling with commoners or members of the aristocracy. The king demands respect, obedience and food. High Queen Mary Significantly smaller than her husband, Queen Mary is more demanding than her husband, but sweet in her own way. She enjoys music and sweets and like her husband, spoils her son rotten. She constantly wishes that Chandler would "put on a few pounds" and "fatten up like his father". The queen is tall, about 500-700 pounds, and loves being married to a big, squishy loving husband. Crown Prince Chandler Chandler is thirteen. Like his father, he has blond hair and blue eyes. He lives a life of absolute luxury. All his needs and all his wants are met at the wave of a hand. He is supremely lazy, and won't do a single thing for himself if he can get someone else to do it for him. He is the epitome of childhood obesity and weighs nearly 500 pounds. He has expensive taste and will only accept the best of anything. While he is spoilt by his parents, Chandler has never let power, money, position and authority go to his head. He tries his best to be nice to everyone and is loved and doted upon and respected by everyone he meets. Chandler is an extremely generous boy, known to give beggar-children entire buckets of gold when he goes out on an almsgiving walk. Chandler is well-known by all, and respected by all. Prince Fabian Chandler's baby brother. He looks very much like Chandler and is very affectionate. Prince Nicholas and Princess Katherine Chandler's younger twin-siblings. Nicholas is a stomach on legs, while Katherine is a fat little angel. Prince Sebastian Prince Sebastian is Chandler's younger cousin, aged ten. Sebastian isn't as fat as Chandler. He has brown hair and is a musical prodigy, capable of playing nearly any instrument given to him. Sebastian was once a beggar-child which Chandler rescued from the streets. After researching his family history and discovering his true heritage, Chandler welcomed his cousin into the family. Sebastian is loved by the queen, who enjoys listening to his music. The two cousins are almost inseperable. Sebastian is something of a miser and pinch-penny. Even though he now has more gold and treasure than he knows what to do with, he's still a spendthift. Prince Damien The black sheep of the Fatlanteen royal family, Damien is despised by all, especially Chandler. Damien is King Daniel's nephew and Chandler's cousin. He looks very similar to Chandler, but is only half Chandler's weight. Damien bullies, intimidates and abuses servants and commoners, much to Daniel's disgust. Punishments have no effect on him and Chandler refuses to stay in the same room with him. The Servants Bradley Bradley is King Daniel's personal manservant. He has known the king since he was a prince, and the two men grew up together. Bradley is fiercely loyal to his master and the two have a special friendship. Bradley acts like an uncle to Chandler and Sebastian, and is always willing to help. Jacob Jacob is the head chef. A master of cooking, Jacob can whip up anything that the king's discerning palette could desire. A firm believer that 'food equals love', Jacob whips up amazing quantities of food in his kitchens. The servant-boys and girls Deep below the palace, in the servants quarters are the hundreds of servant-boys and the dozens of servant-girls. The servant-girls handle general housework and laundry. The servant-boys do all the cooking, serving, cleaning and general labouring. They are all slaves, and are not paid a single penny for their work. Their hours are long, the work is backbreaking, but the rewards granted by King Daniel make it all worth it. Comfortable rooms, games rooms, free food, as much as you could eat and drink, days off, chances to go into town, free accomadation and royal security. The majority of the boys are between eight and fifteen, with a few boys being older. The boys love their work, and constant 'quality control' of their cooking, in the form of stealing huge mouthfuls, has made many of the boys deliciously plump and well-fed. Harris Chandler's personal servant, Harris thirteen. He has brown hair and weighs over 200 pounds. Fiercely loyal to Chandler, he spoils and pampers the prince and there are no lengths to which he would not go, to ensure Chandler's supreme happiness. Harris loves his work and thrills at being in constant contact with so many hundreds of pounds of rolling blubber. Xavier and Jamie Two more of Chandler's personal servants. Jamie and Xavier are also fiercely loyal to Chandler, and are perfectly content to sit next to him and stuff food down their master's throat all day. They admire Chandler and respect him. Chandler is admired and respected and loved by all the servant-boys. He looks after them, he protects them and he listens to their problems. No servant-boy would dare walk past the prince without first acknowledging his presence. Billy Billy is a short, fat boy. He's King Daniel's personal pageboy. He delivers messages, letters and parcels and collects the king's mail. He tidies up the king's office, he copies out papers and fetches things for the king when he's too busy to leave his desk - a certain book from the library, a scroll, a fresh candle...or an entire chocolate cake, when the king feels he needs a little snack. John John is a tall, fat man, weighing over 600 pounds. He loves his meat and he loves nothing more than a good, lazy drive. He is the royal coachman, responsible for looking after Prince Chandler's carriage and driving the prince and his friends where they want to go. Baxter Affectionately called "Little Baxter" by everybody in the Fatlanteen palace, Baxter is everyone's little neighbourhood morale officer. He's six years old and the epitome of a cute younger brother. He is possibly the only boy in the palace more spoilt than Chandler. While technically a servant-boy, Baxter doesn't really do any work, apart from delivering messages and food and drinks. His older brother Sasha dotes on his little brother and looks after him. The two boys (like most of the servant-boys in the palace) were homeless orphans living in the streets, until the king took them in and gave them a home. Baxter is very close to Chandler and his servants, who love playing with him, feeding him and spoiling him. Rex, Wesley and Zachary ...are Prince Sebastian's three servant-boys. They're all aged ten, just like their master. The Lucian Royal Family King Richard A close friend of Daniel's, King Richard is the ruler of Lucia, a coastal land, east of Fatlantis. King Richard believes that Lucian chocolates are the best to be had anywhere, and constant gorging on his own sweets has made him a rotund and very satisfied royal. Queen Sylvia Richard's wife, Sylvia is a friend of Queen Mary, and the two women delight in each other's company. Crown Prince Lucas King Richard's first and only son, Lucas is a great friend of Chandler and Sebastian. The three boys love hanging out together. Lucas is fond of hunting and boasting about the quality of the food in Lucia, which Chandler will always insist is only second-best. Lucas is ten years old. Dylan Dylan is Lucas's personal servant-boy. Not as experienced as Harris in the ways of service, he tries his best anyway, and loves spending time with Harris when their masters meet. Mountania Mountania is a wild, warlike country, west of Fatlantis, populated by an energetic and rough citizenry. They pride themselves on strength, military discipline and respect. The Mountanians are an athletic and muscular group of people, completely opposite to the Fatlanteans and the Lucians, who are lazier, fatter and more content for it. Despite their differences, the three countries are allies and their leaders are friends. Mountania often backs Fatlantis and Lucia and provides protection in times of danger. Ferrramount Capital city of Mountania. Like in Fatlantis, its name is Latin. Translated, it means "Iron Mountain", reflecting the two qualities of the Mountanian people. Being strong and tough as well as being expert metalworkers and stonemasons. Lord Dominus Ruler of Mountania, Lord Dominus is a towering figure of solid muscle. Standing seven and a half feet tall, he is a fearsome ruler with a violent temper. He is a ruthless and crafty military leader who has often led his troops into battle and onto victory. He is much respected by his people and loved by visiting rulers. Goliath Aged 21, Goliath is Dominus's oldest son. He's a seven-foot tall giant with an arrogant, somewhat bullying air about him. He believes himself to be better than others, although he would never really hurt anyone. He loves teasing his baby brother, Maximus. Lachlan Solid, strong and dependable, Lachlan is Dominus's second son. A gentle giant, Lachlan stands six and a half feet tall. He's deeply tanned and has brown hair. In the story, he lives in the Fatlantean Royal Palace where he looks after and protects the servant-boys, and lends a very strong helping hand. He carries out most of the physical labor which other servants won't...or more likely...can't, do. Maximus Dominus's youngest son, Max is also the shortest, standing five feet, nine inches tall. He has brown hair like his brothers, but less of a tan. His body is already very well-developed, despite only being ten years old. He is capable of carrying out incredibly physical tasks and prides himself on his strength. Like Goliath, he's a bit of an arrogant show-off, but he's a kind boy at heart. He lives with Lachlan in Fatlantis and here, he takes an instant liking to Chandler and Sebastian. The princes respect Max's strength and Max recognises their authority, but together, they're friends. Max appoints himself the princes bodyguard, and follows them out, everywhere they go, always armed to the teeth with swords, muskets, daggers and pistols. Vladia Vladia is a wild, lawless country to the north of Fatlantis. Its people recognise no king and no one ruler. It is lorded over by various warlords and overlords, who have enslaved the population of the country, treating them with unmerciful cruelty. Slaves lucky enough to escape from Vladia head south to Fatlantis, Lucia or Mountania to start new lives. While the laws of the land are that escaped slaves are to be captured and returned to their masters, King Daniel disregards this law and permits escaped Vladians to live within his kingdom as freed persons. The Vladian overlords are defeated in the Golden War, by the Imperial Mountanian Army and by soldiers of the Fatlantean and Lucian armies. The rescued slaves come in droves to Fatlantis to start new lives. Master (later, Lord) Scorpius A boy in his early teens, Scorpius escapes Vladia with some of his servants to remove the stain on his name. He is a friendly, peaceful boy, ashamed of his family and his country. As the only virtuous person of the ruling class of Vladia, the slaves forgive him and make him the leader of their new settlement in Fatlantis. --- --- --- --- Zelthran the Sorcerer A powerful, but friendly wizard, Zelthran is a tall, stately wizard with flowing blond hair, turning white. He is in his mid 40s and is a friend of Daniel's. Zelthran was sent to evaluate Daniel when the king was a child, and found him to be sound and respectable, worthy of holding his rank as a royal prince. The two men have been friends ever since. Zelthran bestowed various gifts upon Daniel, in the form of magical rings, which the king wears on his fingers. The rings can summon Zelthran or his son, and they can teleport the king to wherever he desires to go, if he's too lazy to walk there. Osric Osric is the son of Zelthran, aged 10. He's a tall, thin boy with white blond hair. He is sent to evaluate Chandler, Sebastian, Lucas and Damien. He likes the first three boys, but takes an instant dislike to Damien. Osric, like his father, is excessively formal and polite, something which people are quick to notice. Osric rewards Chandler, Sebastian and Maximus, a friend of his since birth, with various magical items, after they pass their evaluations of worth. Chandler has a magic ring which grants him whatever wishes he desires. Sebastian has a medallion which will give him good luck, and Max has a staff which willl...prove to be an excellent weapon. All three gifts are also communication-devices so that the boys can call Osric whenever they need him.
