Angel in Disguise
A poem about heart-break and the pain of rejection.

My heart was stolen by an angel in disguise,
She ripped it out,
Then threw it into the air.
With her cheerful laugh she picked me up,
But then plunged me into a pit of despair.
I gave her my heart on a silver platter,
The angel looked at it,
And stabbed it with a metallic clatter.

Now I'm lost and alone,
Longing, yearning for her heart,
She wants to be friends:
The taste is tart.
Every time I see her beautiful face,
Stinging tears come to my eyes.
But now I learned the lesson,
Never trust your heart with an angel in disguise.
