MANLY V. WOMANLY: a sonnet
Is it manly to pick a gun and shoot, Or womanly to much prefer it calm? Whatever be, but it is rather brute To wield the machete and not the balm. Instead of talking, why itch for a fight? That’s not how the wise people should behave. Of logical discussion, why make light? Why hedge around the point and rant and rave? For those who challenge everyone they see Are not too manly, ask your own conscience. They search for any way to disagree, Looking for signs of a tiny offense? If fighting others be a manly trait, A world without such men would just be great. M C Gupta 9 April 2009
