We Were One
poem of life before the end

We were one,
Til our first son,
Tommy was number two
Born of me and you,

Becky made three,
Happy were we;
You began to drink
Love could only sink

Still we were one
Though I felt alone
The violence began
Not in our plan.

Reality all the same
Excuses so lame;
I am left to wish
It had not ended like this.

I yearn for those years
Kept in my heart so dear,
Before the trials,
When life was full of smiles.

I was happy as could be
With you and my babies three
Life was fun
When we were one
