A Cross to Bear

The weight of our sin upon His back,
A cross to bear, He climbs a path.
Through the rain and up the hill,
Blameless and pure, to suffer the wrath.

A sacrifice of blood and pain,
The perfect lamb, His life to give,
Forfeit for us, because of God’s love,
To pay the price, that we could live.

Falsely accused, God’s only Son,
Innocent as we’ve never been,
Bearing for us, the pain we deserve,
Defying death, our souls to win.

On that cross, on that day,
He died for us, he died for me,
On that hill so far away,
At a place called Calvary.

It was my sin, my cross to bear,
Though willingly taken, he bore it away,
Carrying the cross, He knew I could not,
Giving me hope instead on that day.

He suffered the pain, He faced the wrath,
That day he climbed to calvary,
A cross to bear upon His back,
He died that day for you and me.

Then three days later He rose again,
Defying death, defeating sin,
He crossed a path that I never could,
His love for me, my soul to win.

The weight of our sin upon His back,
A cross to bear, He climbs a path.
Through the rain and up the hill,
Blameless and pure, to suffer the wrath.
