WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SILKEN HEAD OF HAIR!—a ghazal
[ What a beautiful silken head of hair! You add beauty to this ebony chair. Like moon against a dark cloud in the sky, Jet black locks of hair shine on the skin fair. How much I wish to touch those tender locks! Shall I disturb a lion in its lair? Truly inviting are those shiny strands. For those having fluffy heads, I have flair. A day will come when my love will fill it, Though now to touch that head I do not dare. When these head and heart are truly my own, I won’t have Khalish in the world a care. • Written in pentameter. • Initially written as entry 497128 (now deleted) in "LOVE POEMS" M C Gupta ‘Khalish’ 23 March 2007
