Run
Trying to catch up with the unknown

As I got up to leave,
I found a hair of yours,
Resting on my sleeve,
It was only then I believed

It's the closest I can ever be to you,
No matter what I ever say or do,
And now I know I'm really done,
Because I get closer to you the further I run

I see it every single day,
hanging there in plain view,
I can't bring myself to pull it away,
because it's the closest I can be to you

I know as a man I'm being really dumb,
I know that I should be able to run,
So you would no longer be a dream to weave,
But it would mean removing you from my sleeve

The smell of you lingers in my shirt,
A single hair of yours mixed with my dirt,
And now I know I'm really done,
Because I get closer to you the further I run

I'm getting so tired of fighting this fight,
My eyes staying open till the morning light,
I wonder what I would really do,
If I were able to catch up with you

Because I know I'm as close as I'll ever be,
Your eyes won't meet mine but I know they can see,
After everything is said and done,
I get closer to you the further I run
