The woman in front of me spent agonizing seconds selecting her “lucky numbers” for the lottery drawing. Finally, she left.

I stepped to the counter. “Does she do that every week?”

The attendant nodded. “Every Thursday, like clockwork. I hope her ship comes in before the dock rots.”

The line behind me exploded in laughter.
